GNI became the first ever school chosen by the Income Tax Department to hold a tax awareness drive under the Operation clean Money Programme of the centre. This is probably the first ever taxation drive for school students in which 800 schools of the district would be covered. Mr. Bhupinder Singh, Assistant Commissioner, I.T Deptarment, Ludhiana-3 planted the first ever "School's Apnakar Tree" sapling as a symbol of tax awareness in the minds of future tax payers.
He also administered the pledge of "Swachh Bharat Swachh Dhan".
